Plywood Sculpture

Plywood Sculpture

Plywood Sculpture

As part of my Digital Fabrication course, I designed a wooden sculpture with two of my peers. Inspiration for our project came from subtractive sculptures and parametric design, specifically voronoi. Variation of cell depth and size creates contrast along the undulating surface consisting of small dense cells in the middle and large, airy cells towards either end. From our computer model we CNC milled a single custom assembled piece of plywood. The tangible result is a visually complex, decorative sculpture.

*Our project won an award at the 2018 ENVD Gala for best non-studio project.
